Greg Renshaw Obituary
Sterling - Greg A. Renshaw, 55, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Leanne R. (Spinelli) Parker of Sterling, CT. He was born in Norwich, CT, a son of Elizabeth (Stillman) Renshaw of Brooklyn, CT and the late Ralph E. Renshaw, Jr. Greg was passionate about history and historic preservation and worked his entire life salvaging, collecting, and dealing in art and antiques and saving and repurposing historic properties. Greg was the owner of the Cargill Falls Mill in Putnam, CT, which he was transforming into a sustainable mixed-use development. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his three loving sons, Ralph E. Renshaw, III, Reuben H. Renshaw, and Gabriel A. Renshaw. He was the brother of Diane Gudeahn, Carleen Ames, Rhonda Montgomery, Brian Renshaw, Michael Renshaw, and Joshua Renshaw.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt. 44), Greenville, RI, Saturday, September 3, 2016, from 9-11am, with a funeral service to follow immediately at 11am. The burial, followed by a reception and luncheon, will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations to Oxfam will be appreciated. I met Greg years ago through a mutual friend, art and antique buyer who passed on some years ago, I believe that was the last time I spoke to Greg. That friend was the man who introduced me to Greg, I went up to the Mill, to meet him, and we spoke and emailed back and forth from time to time.Greg had bought some of my paintings , antiques, ect via our mutual friend, but Greg was really excited about the idea of me, an artist, moving into his mill, I was pretty excited too, except I had pets (too many ) and I ended up staying where I am. I'm very sad for his wife, families, loss , he was a nice guy, very smart, and very informed about art and antiques. So multi-talented! My condolences.

I just learned about my friend Greg's passing. My wife and I are very distraught. Our deepest sympathies to the Renshaw family and friends. Greg was very special to us. I once had an old car for sale and we couldn't get it in Greg's building so Greg said let's lift it up and turn it sideways and we did. That was Greg. True story. I moved away for 12 years and when I came back Greg and I revisited. He was a different man.. He was married and had three boys. He was so proud when he showed me pictures. He worked so hard and was so proud of his Cargill venture. I only hope the prodject gets finished and is named the Greg Renshaw Apartments in his honor. God bless you Greg, David Hebert

I am so sorry to hear of this. I remember Greg well from Dr. Helen Baldwin School. He was a funny, and good kid. I wish I had kept in touch with him, however was not aware that he lived so close. So sorry for the family he leaves behind.

Prayers & condolences to Greg's family and friends. May you all find comfort and peace in the days to come. I met Greg years ago when I used to go "antiquing" in Putnam. He was always polite and very interesting to talk to. So sorry to read of this tragedy.

On my wall of Family pictures I have a picture of you and when people see it they ask if it is me, I just smile and say 'my cousin, a great man'!.. I have such great admiration for you and the person you are. I think often about going to your home or your business or seeing your beautiful wife and kids and just thinking 'Amazing!'

Greg was a kind and good friend...a flea market pal that I had the pleasure of getting to know at the Elephant Trunk Flea Market In New Milford, CT. I bought paintings and some props off him for my shows. I also shared the passion of the historic preservation in having a great tour of his Cargill Mills project. His humor and kindness will be missed. My kindest regards to the family.
