John A. Brozowski Died - June 20, 2009 Mystic - John A. Brozowski, 87, of Mystic, U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and beloved husband of the late Mary (Sullivan) Brozowski, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Mystic Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Walter and Josephine (Przyborowski) Brzozowski and lived in Mystic for the past 3 years, previously residing in Norwich for most of his life. John was an aviation metalsmith at Glenn L. Martin Aviation in Baltimore and at Quonset Point Naval Station, RI. For most of his career, he was employed at the Underwater Sound Laboratory in New London as a machinist and later as a planner and estimator, retiring in 1977. Throughout John's life he was an avid sports fan. He followed baseball, hockey, football, and basketball. His favorite teams included the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Colts, Notre Dame football, UConn men's & women's basketball teams, and the Maryland women's basketball team. John was known as “Mr. Fix-it� to friends and family. He enjoyed his computer (especially listening to polka music), solving crossword puzzles, conversing in Polish, and telling favorite jokes and stories. To his family, John will be remembered as a kind, caring, and compassionate man who always was willing to give himself and his time to others. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his two daughters, Christine Kamenoff and her husband, William, of Annapolis, MD and Karen Rogers and her husband, James, of Clinton; a sister, Gertrude Truszkowski; brother, Milton Brzozowski and his wife, Connie, all of Baltimore, MD; a grandson, James Rogers Jr. of Arlington, VA, four stepchildren, James Brodowski, Kathleen Souza, Mary Elizabeth Sullivan, and John Brodowski; many loving nieces, nephews, and stepgrandchildren; his dear friends, Andrew and Claire Tellier of Groton Long Point; and his many friends at Academy Point. He was predeceased by his first wife Helen (Seidel) Brozowski in 1976. A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 32 East Main St., Mystic. A reception will follow immediately after Mass at Academy Point, 20 Academy Lane, Mystic. Burial with full military honors will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday at Ames Cemetery (Route 169) in Lisbon.
