Laura May Bacak May 4, 1923 - October 23, 2012 Taftville - Laura May Bacak 89, of Taftville died Tuesday morning at the Village Manor in Plainfield. She was born May 4, 1923 in Millbury, MA. Daughter of the late Albert and Eva (LaBlanc) Carignan. On June 24, 1944 she married Lewis J. Bacak at St. Mary Church in Norwich. He predeceased her on February 17, 1993. She resided in Canterbury for most of her life and was a member of the VFW Ladies Aux. in Plainfield. Her hobbies included Bingo, Sewing and Crocheting. Mrs. Bacak is survived by four daughters and their spouses Susan and Lawrence Deschamps of Baltic, Donna and David Cloutier of Chaplin, Rita and Paul Danieluk of Griswold, Joan Raymond of Norwich, son Dale Bacak of Topsham, ME, 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, two sisters Rita Koziol and Theresa Brandon and a brother Raymond Carignan. She was predeceased by a son Ron Bacak of Moss Point, Miss., a son-in- law Lonnie Raymond of Canterbury, two sisters Evelyn Beauregard and Anna Dennome, four brothers Hector, Joseph, Albert, and Rexford Carignan. Calling hours will be held Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Rd., Rt. 138 Jewett City followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Church, Jewett City. Interment will follow in Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold.
