Amodeo, 70, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully with his family at his side after a brief illness at the Vitas Hospice Care Center located in St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury on Saturday January 18, 2014. He was the husband of Cheryl (Trasko) Amodeo. Mike was born at W.M. Backus Hospital in Norwich, February 12, 1943. He was the only son of the late Peter and Josephine (Zigaro) Amodeo. Mike graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1964 to 1970 at Ft. Dix, NJ. He worked there for the last 15 years of his professional career, and upon retirement took up nature photography and began volunteering at Flanders Nature Center in Woodbury. He quickly acquired a deep passion for both endeavors - becoming known for his unique shots of bluebirds and sharing them with everyone at the nature center. He ultimately became an environmental educator, working closely with children from all walks of life, educating them about the beauty of nature that surrounds us all. He was known as Mr. Mike to everyone at the nature center. He leaves. In addition to his wife Cheryl, of 47 years; one son Michael and wife Jennifer, daughter Nichole and husband Matthew Titley, and grand-daughter Elizabeth V. Titley. He is also survived by his only sister Patricia and her husband Fred Serluca of Waterford, CT. He also leaves many cousins and close friends. We are so sad about our dear cousin Michael's passing. He was such a special member of the family. His quiet self-reflective ways, his beautiful warm brown eyes, his enjoyable sense of humor, and his compassion for others will all be remembered and greatly missed. He carried himself with dignity and courage even in the face of his illness. He made a positive impact on our world.

Mr.Mike truly loved guiding the children at the Flanders Nature Center. No matter what he was helping with, a hike, helping at the farm, or taking photos of beautiful nature scenes, he always had a smile. He appreciated people and God's special gifts in the Centers' environment so much. I always loved how he gave such kind compliments, while being positive and grateful for the simple things. He will be greatly missed by so many. He will live on in our hearts & memories forever. May this new journey with God offer splendid views, and great peace to Mike, he deserves only the best. With Love, The Cole Family?

I am so sorry to hear of Mike's early passing. Mike and I were friends and buddies when I lived in East Great Plains attending John B Stanton School and continuing on to NFA. Of course, college took me away from Norwich and my marriage moved us to the greater Hartford area. I will always remember the good times we shared. He will be missed....
