Richard Adamec Obituary

Richard W. Adamec Sr. October 22, 1932 - December 14, 2009 Norwich - Richard W. Adamec, Sr., 77, husband of Helene (Olenkiewicz) Adamec of 251 Boswell Ave., Norwich, died Monday at the Backus Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bronx, NY on October 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Frank and Florence (Melville) Adamec. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a salesman for Drake Bakery Co. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local #550. On April 24, 1954 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church he was united in marriage to Helene (Olenkiewicz) Adamec who survives along with one son Richard W. Adamec, Jr. of Groton, five daughters, twins Helene M. Ryan and Marie H. Adamec, Cheryl A. Adamec, Diane Adamec all of Norwich, and Kathleen Adamec of Lisbon. Twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two brothers, Donald A. Adamec of Sarasota, FL, and Robert J. Adamec of Goshen NY, one sister Barbara A. Gorga of Fisher, IN, one aunt, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. he was predeceased by a brother Kenneth F. Adamec. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Church, 70 Central Ave., Norwich, meeting at the church. There are no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations are asked to be made to the family to defray final expenses c/o Helene M. Adamec, 251 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT 06360. Arrangements by Labenski Funeral Home.
