Victoria Wilk Obituary
Winter Garden, FL - Victoria Wilk, 95 formerly of Norwich died Saturday morning, August 20, 2016. Victoria is the wife of the late Joseph J. "Chinky" Wilk. Born in Norwich she was the daughter of the late George and Irene (Roumeliotou) Gatrousis. Mrs. Wilk was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy and Pratt Institute in New York.On January 20, 1945 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Joseph J. Wilk who died on September 23, 2006.
Mrs. Wilk worked for many years in the department of rehabilitation at the Norwich Hospital as well as teaching at the Norwich Adult Education Program. She was a member of the Philoptochos Society, AHEPA, the American Society of Early American Decorative Arts, a devout member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, and a founding member of the Daughters of Penelope. Victoria enjoyed embroidering, sewing, knitting, historical American decorative painting, and traveling.
She is survived by her son Joseph G. Wilk and his wife Joanne of Norwich, three daughters JoAnn Yuskaitis of Orlando, FL, Barbara Inglessis and her husband George of Moorestown, NJ and Marilyn Galvin and her husband Tom of Orlando, FL; sister Despina Condos of Dudley, MA; eight grandchildren Karin Peck, Maria Grabill, Kristine Huber, Joe Wilk, Jr., Christopher Yuskaitis, Jason Inglessis, Lauren and Emily Galvin; fourteen great grandchildren Taylor, Brittany, Jennifer, and Ethan Grabill, Kristian, Jesse and Joshua Huber, Evan, Jared, Marissa and Jordon Peck, Archer and Alex Inglessis, and Lily Yuskaitis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Victoria was predeceased by her brother Christopher Gatrousis and two sisters Mary Luty and Steffa Christopher.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Victoria's memory may be made to either Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 247 Washington St., Norwich, CT 06360 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Private services will be held and have been entrusted to the Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home, 82 Cliff St., Norwich. Please visit the memorial guestbook online at www.cummings-gagnefh.com.
