Fred Fiedler Obituary

Fred Paul Fiedler

February 10, 1932 - November 8, 2024

Fred Paul Fiedler, 92, passed away at Great Plains Health on Nov. 8, 2024.

He was one of two boys born to Ernest and Josephine (Schmitt) Fielder on Feb. 10, 1932, in Hammelburg, Germany.

Fred moved to America in 1934 with his family, and eventually graduated from Fremont High School in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served the country until 1953. On Aug. 19, 1956, Fred married his beloved Anita Johansen in Fremont. The couple brought three boys into the world, Michael, Mark and Mitchell. For 36 years, Fred worked as a salesman for Hormel. When the family moved to North Platte, they owned and operated Fiedler's Meat Market on the corner of 4th and Chestnut.

He was a devoted member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, always putting his faith in front of everything. Fred was an Eagle Scout and an accomplished carpenter, spending a large part of his days in the green barn that he built.

Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Anita; and sons, Michael and Mark.

Survivors include his son, Mitch (Pat) Fiedler of North Platte; grandchildren, Lance, Megan, and Michael; brother, Robert (Pat) Fiedler; and several other family members.
