Mark E. Fletcher, 97, of North Platte, passed away on Oct. 19, 2024, at Linden Court.
He was born on April 3, 1927, in North Platte, the son of Roy Raymond and Lola Bell (Hill) Fletcher. Mark was married on June 1, 1952, to Loveda June Bakelaar at her parents' home in North Platte. He worked at Leo's Flowers, the Paramount Theater as a projectionist and as a manager at Day Milling Co. for several years. He hired on at the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a fireman and oiler until his retirement on July 6, 1990. He loved music and playing his guitar. Mark grew up with Hadley Barrett and had the opportunity to play guitar with him and the Westerners band. He was one of the original members of the Westerners. He enjoyed flower gardening, especially his roses, family photography, traveling and crossword puzzles. He was an excellent bookkeeper and helped his wife with her beauty salon books and taxes. Mark was a coin collector and an avid reader, reading three papers per day. He was a member of the ELKS club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lola; and his sister, Ruth Dreher.
Left to cherish Mark's memory are his wife of 72 years, Loveda; and numerous cousins.

Memorial service is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Inurnment follows at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation and viewing are from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with arrangements.
