July 7, 1948 - October 18, 2025
Maureen Joyce Eldred, 77, of North Platte, passed away on Oct. 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 7, 1948, in Sidney, to the late Edgar and Joyce Anderson Bennett.
She enjoyed watching westerns, listening to music, playing games, making candy and spending time with her animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 33 years, Jerold James Eldred.
Survivors include three children, Trina (Barry) Richardson of Pomaria, SC, Gene Rundquist of North Platte, and Barry (DeAnna) Goen of Irmo, SC; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Marlene (Steve) Chavis of Batesburg/Leesville, SC; one nephew and two nieces.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Memorial service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at The Rock Church with Ruben Valdez officiating. Inurnment is at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell. A book signing is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is entrusted with arrangements.

Gene, it was my pleasure to know your mother. Many times she made me smile when she needed help with passwords and software changes with her phone. Somehow, I could make it work when she couldn’t. You were good to bring her in for the simplest of questions. She was a strong character, a force to be reckoned with. But a kind heart always glowed from within. May you and your family find warmth when you recall memories of your mother.
