Maurice Edgington Obituary

Maurice "Gary" Edgington, 72, of North Platte, passed away Jan. 15, 2011, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
Gary was born Sept. 23, 1938, in Callaway, to Maurice Wilber and Irene Hill Edgington. He attended school in Callaway and graduated in 1956.
Gary worked in the family grocery store in Callaway until hiring out on the Union Pacific Railroad in 1962. He was united in marriage to Vagene Biggers on Feb. 14, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nev. They resided in Omaha until 1994. When Gary retired they moved to Venice, Fla., and lived there for eight years.
When Gary's health began to fail they returned to North Platte to be closer to family and friends. Due to his health, Gary moved to Linden Court in 2007. He made many friends there.
He loved putting jigsaw puzzles together, playing cards and was on Linden Court Residents Council.
Survivors include his wife, Vagene, of North Platte; two daughters, Heide (Ron) McOmber, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and LeeAnn (Roy Shirley) Skinner, of North Platte; one son, Ted (Deb) Cooper, of North Platte; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a "special aunt," Delores Dailey, of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tracy; sisters, Shirley Gogerty and Carolyn McKinzie; and a brother, Robert Edgington.
Gary is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Adams & Swanson Chapel with the Rev. James Golka as celebrant.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

I will miss stopping to see Gary on my trips through North Platte . I first met Gary while employed at Linden Court . He was one of the people I made it a point to stop and visit with , a really neat man always had a smile and appositive attitude .
