Robert Gadway Obituary

Robert G. "Bob" Gadway, 71 of Cozad, passed away May 7, 2011, in Cozad.
Bob was born Jan. 25, 1940, at Wellfleet, to Robert and Floretta (Odom) Gadway Sr. He attended Bell Prairie rural school and went on to graduate from the Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture at Curtis in 1957.
On June 12, 1960, Bob married Linda Joliff at North Platte. The couple made their home in Cozad, where they have lived their entire married lives.
Bob started out fumigating grain bins before he was married, and eventually came to manage the Bellamy Grain Elevator in Cozad.
Bob and Linda were blessed with two daughters, Vicki and Tracey. Bob would eventually go on to work as a grain merchandiser with DeBruce Grain for many years.
He had a great love for all aspects of agriculture and he particularly loved being out on a tractor. Bob retired from DeBruce Grain in 2005, but remained busy throughout his retirement, as he was an active volunteer in his church and community.
Bob was a long-time member of the American Lutheran Church and the Cozad Elks Lodge No. 2250.
Bob loved to spend time working on his yard. He was a perfectionist in everything he did, and would spend much time toiling in his garden and making sure that his lawn looked finely manicured. Bob loved all sports, but he particularly loved Husker Football. Christmas was Bob's favorite holiday, as he would love to decorate his home both inside and out.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his mother; and father-in-law.
Survivors include his wife, of over 50 years, Linda, of Cozad; two daughters, Vicki (Gary) Wirth, of Kearney, Tracey (Gary) Kracl, of Schuyler; four grandchildren, Erin (Cain Martin) Kracl, Nathan Kracl, Cody Wirth and Kayla Wirth; four brothers, Wesley (Ceil) Gadway, of Hershey, Gordon (Florice) Gadway, of North Platte, Stanley (Marilyn) Gadway, of Morgan Hill, Calif., Maynard Gadway, of Mountain Home, Ark.; and a host of other relatives; and very good friends.
A memorial has been established. Condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad with Pastors Mike Parsh and Don Wilken officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., today, at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad, which is in charge of arrangements.

So sad to hear of Bobs death, I have known him since we were five years old. We attended the same country school, I have many fond memories of those days of our youth.

His family has my deepest sympathy and condolences. Bob, his father, my father and I went fishing together several times during our teenage years, and really enjoyed their company.
