Garry Rupert Obituary
Garry Roger Rupert, 83, of Bridgewater, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his home.
Garry was born July 9, 1935 in Macanie, VA, a son of the late Pearl Irene (Hepner) and Claude Lester Rupert.
He retired from Rockingham County Public Schools as a principal of Keezletown Elementary School.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved reading. He was a member of Morning Star Lutheran Church.
He was united in marriage June 4, 1958 to Virginia Mae (Emswiler) Rupert, who survives.
Garry is also survived by two daughters, Melanie Bradshaw and husband Philip, of Williamsburg, and Wendy Leake and husband Blake of Bridgewater; sister, Betty Huffman and husband Jerry of Timberville; brothers, Claude Rupert Jr. and wife Gloria of Gainesville, GA, and Rodney Rupert of Mt. Jackson; and granddaughters, Bethany Hart and husband Cole, and Natalie Leake.
He is preceded in death by sisters, Edith Foley, Pauline King, Dolly Thorpe, June Polk, and Alice Harpine; and brothers, William, Bobby, and Stanley Rupert.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor David Moore officiating.
Burial will be at 12 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 in the Morning Star Lutheran Church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 355 Rio Road West, Suite 102, Charlottesville, VA 22901 and/or Morning Star Lutheran Church, 282 Morning Star Road, Mt. Jackson, VA 22842.
