Josephine Davis Obituary


Josephine Newman Davis, 96, of 430 Henry Drive, Woodstock, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Greenfield Senior Living in Woodstock. A private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in Massanutten Cemetery in Woodstock.

Mrs. Davis was born February 24, 1912, in Woodstock, daughter of the late Wilbur Lauck and Ruth Koontz Newman. She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Nick" Davis, Sr.

She is survived by her son, John N. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Theresa of Woodstock with whom she made her home; a daughter, Jacqueline Schneider and her companion, Marc Grigsby of Elkins, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Josephine Wagoner of Franklin, W.Va., Christine Schneider of Morgantown, W.Va., Justin Davis of Edinburg, Nichole Lang of Rustburg, Va., and Craig Hammond of Woodstock; and six great-grandchildren, Summer Krantz, Mandy Krantz, Joshua Wagoner, Jenna Wagoner, Cullen Hammond and Mya Lang.
