Richard Sherman Obituary


Richard "Dickie" Sherman Sr., 75, of Woodstock passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Community Mission Church in Woodstock. Pastor Fred Mauck will officiate.

Mr. Sherman was born July 27, 1946, in Woodstock, son of the late Harry and Anna Elizabeth Peer Sherman. He formerly worked for Richard Hottle Construction, Edinburg Aileen, and Georges. He was a member of Antioch Church of the Brethren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Ketterman Sherman whom he was married to for 47 years; brothers and sisters, Margaret Kibler, Jack Sherman, Harry Sherman Jr., Nancy Hottle, Anna Marshall, Charles Sherman, and Milton Sherman; and son-in-law, Brian Bowers.

He is survived by four children, Margie Bowers, of Woodstock, Donna Jones of Luray, Richard "Dickie" Sherman Jr. of Woodstock and Tammy Sherman of Danville; sister, Betty Sherman of Nashville, TN; brother, Donnie Sherman of Woodstock and five grandchildren, Michael Haslacker (Sarah), Marissa Haslacker, Hannah Haslacker, Nathaniel Ray Jones, and Thomas Sherman.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice or the Woodstock Rescue Squad.

Dickie loved bowling, fishing, and hunting with family and friends as well as playing softball and horseshoes.

His last words to everybody were "I Love You All".
