Ruby Cornwell Obituary
Ruby A. Cornwell, 89, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Rose Hill Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Cornwell was born in 1929 in Conicville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Shifflett. She was a graduate of Stephens City High School.
Mrs. Cornwell was a homemaker and, along with her loving husband, owner of Cornwell's TV Shop.
She was a lifetime member of Mountain View Church of Christ; a loving, kind, outgoing woman who found goodness in everyone she met and was always there when anyone needed help to get by or to provide comfort and understanding. Mrs. Cornwell was a good friend to many and loved by many more. She will be remembered fondly by all that knew her.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother that is missed.
Her husband, Harold Glenn Cornwell, whom she married February 23, 1950 in Winchester, Virginia, preceded her in death in 2007.
Surviving are sons, Warren "Buster" Cornwell of Middletown, Virginia and Robert Cornwell (Christine) of White Post, Virginia; grandchildren, Jason Cornwell (Sarah) of Middletown, Virginia, Bryan Cornwell of Colorado, and Krista Cornwell of Virginia; great grandchildren, Caleb and Eli Cornwell of Middletown, Virginia; and sister, Mary Lee Seal (William) of Bunker Hill, West Virginia.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Cornwell was preceded in death by a son, Harold Glenn Cornwell Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mountain View Church of Christ, 153 Narrow Lane, Winchester, Virginia with Pastor Chris Straley officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Cornwell, Warren "Buster" Cornwell, Jason Cornwell, Caleb Cornwell, and Bobby Seal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruby's memory may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
