Steven Spitler Obituary
He was born July 23, 1945 in Mt. Jackson. He is the son of the late Marvin and Nellie (Baker) Spitler.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne Rinker.
Steven was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served two terms in Vietnam and he owned S & S Gun Shop in Mt. Jackson. He was an avid outdoors man and loved hunting and he was a member of the NRA. He was also, a member of Mt. Clifton United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Martha Spitler; daughter, Crystal Lee Spitler Hinkle of Mt. Jackson; sister, Judy McCray of Mt. Jackson; granddaughter, Addison Lee Hinkle; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 12-1 p.m. at Valley Funeral Service, Bowman's Crossing.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Mt. Jackson Cemetery by Pastor Larry Rinard.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Vann, Peter Mulligan, Scott Price, Gary Lutz, Donnie Bynaker, Tracey Hepler, Chris Dove, Wayne Custer, Dennis Fadeley, Merle Thorpe, Donald Dirting, Johnny Pool, Justin Mongold, Mike Turner, Eric Pool, John Smoot, Jr., Gary Andrews and Larry Green.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Jackson Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 251, Mt. Jackson,VA 22842-0251.
Arrangements are in the care of Valley Funeral Service, Bowmans Crossing.
