I an a Realtor in Roanoke, VA, and was just running the hotsheet for the day. I saw Dr. Wisman's residence listed on there as "The estate of..." It really made me super sad. As many others here have said, he assisted Dr. Ridgeway delivering me 61 years ago, and then delivered my daughter 33 years ago. He was loved by my family. When you went to see him, it was so old school...he would do his exam, and then sit in his office and discuss whatever you wanted to, and then write out your prescription. He is irreplacable for sure. A warm, kind, caring, thoughful, and thorough Doctor, and gentleman.

I just found out today that the best man and Dr., in the world is no longer with us. HE WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!! And so pleased that I told him that while he was still with us. I heard another Dr call him a real gentlemans -gentleman meaning he was true blue and an example for all Dr's and men. He delivered me in 1969 and I refused to have a child unless he was the Dr., for me in the delivery. His knowledge was outstanding, his care for his patients OUTSTANDING. My mom, aunts and myself loved this awesome man. He WAS LOVED and will be missed.

Doctor Wisman, ( 12-11-23 )
I was thinking of you just now, and with this smart phone that I have, I decided to look you up.
My heart is literally broken . I started seeing you in 1967, and I knew that you would be the only doctor that would take care of that area.I stuck to my word. I also found out that my aunt had been going to you also. ( she loved you just as much ) I'm 72 years of age, and the babies are all grown, with babies of their own. I still have the picture that I took in your office, in your office.
Dr.Wisman thank you from within my heart for the care that I received from you, I truly cared for you, too. I love you and when it's my turn to leave this earth, I shall see you again.

It is with a sad Heart to be sending this message. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Wisman. In 1989 he saved my life and prior to that day and many years ahead he was the kindest, compassionate Physician that I have ever know. He worked with my Mother at Carilion for years and deprived my niece 49 years ago. He was Physian to my two oldest Daughters and delieved my Grandson 25 years ago , who was born weighing 2lbs and 3oz. My granddaughter who is now 25 . I visited him at the office the day he retired and left with tears knowing I would never meet another Physician or Man like him. Thank you Dr. Wisman for always listening and commuting your life to be one of the Best Physicians that so many will remember with Gratitude and Love.May your Family always remember the kind spirit that you had and the many lives you touched.

Bobby and I were good friends even though he was 3 years older than me. We played baseball together, had long talks about everything we could think of, we ran around together a few times. He was full of life & fun. Many girls commented about how handsome he was.
I am thinking about him today, plus the impact he had on my life.

I am a retired RN and worked with Dr. Wiseman in the OR both at Community Hospital and at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was always a gentleman and easy to work with. I am glad that I got to assist him in the OR. His partner, Dr. Ridgeway-Hull, delivered me back in 1956. Condolences to his family!

Dr. Wisman delivered both of my sons. He was always so kind and attentive and I felt so comfortable in his care. Over the many years I would see him at restaurants like the K & W or the Roanoker. I would ask him if he is still practicing and he would smile saying " no, I think I´ve got it right." So sorry for your loss. He was one of a kind.

My friend the Wise-Man
I started seeing Dr.Wisman in the 80s , he taught me so much about the mysteries of women's healthcare and some ole school remedies ,
He saw that I had a deep passion 4 learning he even taught me how 2 drop , slide & view my urine thru microscope.
We talked about everything
! If anyone needed a good OBGYN I sent them 2 him
Ms.Ruby was always there
by his side she's a jewel .
I told Dr. Wisman that ,He was the Father that I never had he smiled , I'll never 4get that day.
The Wise- Man back in 96
had a vacation planned well here I come in desperate need he delayed his trip just 4 me that day he delivered my beautiful baby girl the following day
he checked on me and off he went I was truly Blessed.
Until we meet again,....My Friend The Wise- Man
