Eleanor Montalbine Obituary

Eleanor Helen (Borowy) Montalbine, 83, of Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Home in Harrisonburg, Va., passed away on Friday Jan. 9, 2009 at her residence.

Eleanor was born on June 16, 1925 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Borowy.
Prior to living in Harrisonburg, Mrs. Montalbine lived in West Islip, N.Y. and Virginia Beach, Va.

On Feb. 2, 1948, she married Nazzarine P. Montalbine who preceded her in death in 1973. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Anna and Olga Borowy; and her step-mother Ann.

She is survived by two daughters, Mariann Smith and husband Alex of Fishersville, Va., and Susan Cummings and husband Charles of Navarre, Fla.; two grandsons, Frank Smith and Chad Cummings; Half-sister Ann Teresa O'Brien of Scotia, N.Y.; stepsister Patricia Morris of Old Bridge, N.J.; two stepbrothers, Frank Clarke and Alice of East Meadow, N.Y., and Jack Clarke; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, N.Y. and Sentara Hospital in Virginia Beach, Va. She loved going out and playing mahjongg and cards, and went to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Charles Town, W.V. as often as she could. She was quick to make friends wherever she went and will be missed by all.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, Va. Arrangements in New York are by the Charles O'Shea Funeral Home.
