William Shahid Obituary

Wm. Mark Shahid, age 55, was born in Fort Walton Beach on Sept. 8, 1955 and died at his home on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest W Shahid, Sr., and older brother, Ernie Shahid Jr.

He is survived by his loving mother, Margaret Shahid; his devoted and caring son, Slade Shahid; wife, Melissa; brothers: Wayne and wife, Pam, Cary and wife, Marilyn; twin sisters: Lynda Hollan and husband, Mark, Lisa Hill and husband, Lamar; nieces and nephews: Kim Crocker, Ryan Shahid, Lauren and Brian Hollan. He is also survived by aunts, Agnes Shahid and Billie Shahid; and Uncle Shag and Aunt Lola Shahid; many cousins; and special friend, Minnie Schmitz.

Mark attended Darlington Military School and graduated from Choctawhatchee High School with high recognitions and debating awards. He then became an entrepreneur/businessman. With his knowledge and love for fine jewelry, Private Collection was one of his first accomplishments. His other ventures were Beachside Cafe and Bar, Shoreline Realty, the Ocean Club and Wyndham Vacation Resorts.

A memorial Mass will be held at the Church of the Resurrection, 259 Miramar Beach Dr., Miramar Beach, Fla. on Tuesday, March 1 at 11 a.m., officiated by family friend Msgr. Slade Crawford. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Slade for being Mark's true friend, spiritual guide and faithful visitor during his life.

Donation should be sent to the Church of the Resurrection at 259 Miramar Beach Dr., Miramar Beach, Fl , 32550.

Its been a few years since michael and I were lucky enuff 2 stay with the family in destin..in fact their son was a toddler then..wow, im shocked and wished we all would have stayed in touch more, he was a wonderful and gracious man, we had the best time with the family during that visit. I will always remember it and smile, my sympathy and thoughts are with the family. love to all of you

Mark...I knew you, while we were gym buddies during Ole" Training Effects" days. You always worked so hard getting your abs of steel to show!! We bonded instantly. I just found out about your passing! I regret not haven't seen you in years, but your moving on, impacted me with profound sadness. It shouldn't surprise you! You had a "warm" heart."affecting everyone! Certainly the love I know you unconditionally shared with your beloved kitties!

After so many years....I'll forever remember you Mark. You were a great guy, a good man! Where ever you are...send me a postcard some day.....I'd love to see you again! Fare well my friend!

I grew up two doors down from the Shahids on Waynell Cir. I fondly recall Mark shooting me in the butt with his B.B. gun. Several times. He was a great childhood pal and my boss later in life at the Beachside Cafe. Shine on, you crazy diamond...
