Daryl Fox Obituary

Died: Oct. 25, 2015; in Woodstock, IL
Daryl K. Fox, age 53, died suddenly on October 25, 2015, at his home in Woodstock, Illinois.
Daryl was born in Chicago on December 1, 1961, to Arthur and Arlene Fox. In 1965, the Fox family moved to Morton Grove, where Daryl attended Golf Elementary, Golf Junior High, and Niles North High.
Daryl's first job was in maintenance at Skokie Federal Bank through his high school's work-study program. He developed an aptitude for many building trades, was a certified HVAC technician, and worked for several employers in the Chicago area. Daryl's family and friends knew they could count on him to help with their household projects.
Daryl married Maureen McCarthy in 1994, and embraced his role as stepfather to Maureen's children. The family was complete when their son Justin was born. Daryl and Maureen divorced in 2005.
A few years later, Daryl and his huge Saint Bernard settled in Woodstock, a small, historic town that suited his personality.
His many interests included the music of the 1980's, old movies and TV shows, comedy, and reading, as well as the Cubs and Bears. Daryl and Justin spent time outdoors camping and fishing with friends and visiting animals at the zoo and Lambs Farm. Daryl liked to play bocce ball and dominoes at family gatherings. He always enjoyed a good meal and developed an interest in cooking.
He recently began attending Willow Creek Community Church and planned on being baptized.
Daryl is survived by his son, Justin Fox; father, Arthur Fox; brothers, Daniel (Kristen) Fox and Douglas (Jennifer) Fox; sisters, Charlene Fox and Patricia (Jeff) Martincin; nieces, Jolene, Haley and Lacey; and stepson, Steven.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene; his grandparents; and his stepdaughter, Christie.
A private burial was held.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to Helping Paws Animal Shelter in Woodstock, Illinois, would be appreciated.
May the peace Daryl was denied in life be granted to him in eternity.

Daryl worked with me at the Days Inn in Woodstock. I relied on him completely for keeping the building functioning and in good repair. He was a gentle soul.
