Doris A. Stanfel, age 88, of Richmond, IL, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024 at The Gardens of Ridgestone in Elkhorn, WI.
She was born in Covington, KY on June 19, 1935, a daughter of the late Katherine (Lucas) and John Fuhler.
A graduate of McHenry High School in 1953, she married Steve Stanfel on April 16, 1955, in McHenry, IL.
Doris was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richmond.
She worked as a secretary at Richmond-Burton High School in Richmond, IL., for over 15 years, then was a nurse's aide at Edgebrook Elementary in McHenry, IL for over 10 years.
Doris was a Cub Scout leader, election judge for many years, and volunteer at McHenry Hospital ER after retirement. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, crocheting, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
Doris is survived by her husband Steve, her children, Deb (Carson) Wike, of Genoa City, WI; Steve (Sandy) Stanfel Jr., of Richmond, IL; Kim (Joel) Donohue, of Ft. Worth, TX; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Sam) Gage, Tom Wike, Steve (Brittany) Stanfel III, Sean Stanfel, Shane Stanfel, Jaden Donohue, Ashley (Caleb) Seale, seven great-grandchildren and two brothers Dick (Carol) Fuhler and Ron (Carol) Fuhler. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Fuhler and Bob Fuhler, and sister-in-law and dear friend, Eunice Fuhler.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan 18, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, 10011 Main St, Richmond. Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 10519 Main St, Richmond, IL, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024 with Msgr. Martin Heinz officiating.
Interment will be at Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery in Crystal Lake, IL.
