Gustave DeBuck Obituary

Gustave 'Rusty' DeBuck III
Born: November 17, 1954
Died: July 13, 2023
Rusty DeBuck, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 13, at Alden Estates of Barrington. He was born November 17th, 1954, in Wauconda to Gustave Debuck Jr and Patricia Baseley. On June 6th, 1981, he married his wife Terri Smith and together, they had 2 daughters, Cortney and Whitney.
During his childhood and into his teenage years, Rusty worked at his Grandparents resort, Gus and Marys in Wauconda. After the sudden passing of his father in 1968, Rusty's family moved to McHenry where he graduated from McHenry Community High School Class of 1973. After high school, you might've seen Rusty flair bartending at Rhino's or working at Oaks Marathon in McHenry. In his early adult years, Rusty did it all. From working a sanitation route at National Chemical in Elmhurst, to owning Whales Wash N Laundry in McHenry to then becoming part owner of Power Plus Marine in Fox Lake. Later on, he was a top car salesman at Buss Ford in McHenry and then took a leap of faith and bought National Chemical and moved the company to Wauconda. He owned and operated the company for 5 years. For the past 30 years, him and his wife have owned Maids N More in McHenry.
His true passion and joy in life other than becoming a grandfather was none other than our Chicago Bears. Once dubbed "The biggest Bears fan in McHenry County" Rusty took pride in decorating his house for Christmas in orange and blue Christmas lights and of course, his well-known, over the top, one of a kind Chicago Bears family room. In 1999 he was asked to be one of "Santas helpers" for the Chicago Bears Christmas Party. A tradition that ended up carrying on for more than 20 years with his wife Terri as one of "Mrs. Claus's helpers". His opinionated views on the Chicago Bears and NASCAR landed him a call in spot on WGN AM Radio 720 where people knew him as Racecar Rusty.
Rusty's larger than life personality will be missed by all who knew him. He fought his battle with cancer for 12 years and did it with nothing but strength and dignity right until the end. He was a role model to many and we are all so lucky to have known such an amazing man. In honor of him and his love for the Chicago Bears, his family will be wearing orange and blue at his service and we invite you all to do the same.
Survivors include his wife, Terri DeBuck of McHenry, his 2 daughters Cortney (Eric) Rebman of McHenry and Whitney DeBuck of McHenry. His 3 absolute joys in his life, his grandchildren Addyson, Cooper and Kyleigh Rebman of McHenry. His Brother Joe (Diane) DeBuck of Florida, sister-in-laws Mary (John) Michels of McHenry and Sandi (John) Echelmeyer of McHenry. Rusty is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews.
Rusty is preceded in death by his Grandparents Gustave and Mary DeBuck and Claude and Mary Baseley, his parents, sister Lori DeBuck, sister-in-law Elizabeth Baxley and brother-in-law Dave Smith and his very special niece turned 3rd daughter Debbie Smith.
Services will be held on Sunday, July 23rd 2023, from 3pm-7pm and Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home 235 N Main Street, Wauconda, IL 60084 and Funeral will also be at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home on Monday, July 24th 2023, starting at 11am.

As kids we were great friends and had many adventures together. As adults we went our separate ways. But I never forgot Rusty. Never will. RIP old buddy.
