I took this photo of Lila when I brought her to visit my Palatine apartment in 2007. It was a great day. We went to an art show and laughed a lot.

I met Lila when I wrote an article about her for the Northwest Herald a few years ago, as I was intrigued by her having been a member of the Algonquin Garden Club for over 60 years. When I went to her home to interview her for the article and see her own gardens, we formed a fast bond. Our friendship was an unlikely one, as she was nearly 60 years older than I and we didn't have any friends or family in common. But what we did have was a real caring, interest and respect for each other. I was amazed by her keen mind, great creativity and generous laughter that defied her age. She always made me feel so good being around her. She was an angel on Earth and I truly miss her.

Mrs. Primose's memory will go on for years to come as I have so many memories from her teachings to pass on to my kids. She was one of the most wonderful people I know.

Ms. Primrose was a great teacher,my children had her in kindergarten. Her devotion to education enlightened many children. Her love of gardening also was shown many times throughout Algonquin. She will be missed.
