Rick was truly an outstanding, talented, humble and kind person. He was my supervisor and mentor when I was working at Baxter Healthcare 15 years ago. I have learned so much from him, not only in the industry, but in life lessons. He treated me like family. I only came to know about the news today and it truly broke my heart. Rick's goodwill and lightheartedness will always be remembered. His family is in my prayers. I will always remember you, Rick.

I think of my friend Rick often, and just the other day my daughter asked me if I still have The Bun. I do. Rick definitely won that one. Rest in peace, my old friend...

Very sad to hear of Rick's passing. We were roommates in college and classmates in ISU chemistry program. A truly funny, unique, and talented guy. My wife (who was my girlfriend when Rick and I lived in the same apartment on College avenue) and I still to this day repeat Rick-isms. Most often it's the one when someone would say 'easy' about something and he would stop them and say, "Hey, easy on the easy's."
I was in no way a serious Christian in college which I'm thankful to say changed about 20 years ago, so at that time I didn't know much about Rick's (or my own) faith. From what I read here, I now have a great hope which I hope is THE great comfort to his family and that is that we will meet and laugh together again when singing praise to Him who made us and everything else... with Rick singing AND playing guitar.

I just heard about Rick's passing, and I pass along my condolences. His music and friendship were a great ministry to me. Word's unsaid then and now cannot express the true heart. I am thankful for the blessing from God through Rick.

Rick contributed to products that save lives. Not everyone can say that. In those lives and in the lives of his friends & family, his light still shines.

Rick interviewed me when I applied for a job at Baxter Healthcare back in 2002, and then helped in my smooth on-boarding. Always, very friendly and technically sound!
May Rick rest in peace!

I am very saddened to hear of Richard's passing. I was very pleased when he did undergraduate research with me in the 1980s and always appreciate his hard work, his good lab skills, his kindness and his real interest in learning. My heart goes out to his family at this time. Sincerely, Marjorie Jones, Department of Chemistry, Illinois State University

As a kid Rick was a role model for me. He showed us how to be a "big kid" i will always remember him riding no hands on his schwinn varsity blonde hair blown back, the times he helped us make a whirlpool in the backyard swimming pool. He was older than me by what seemed like so much back then but he took the time to hang out with us whenever he could and really looked out for us. I feel like he is at home with grandma and grandpa and they are all smiling together and still looking out for us. I love you more than i ever could have expressed and you will always ne the big kid who showed this little kid how its done

I worked with Rick during my Baxter days and highly respected him. His work ethic and scientific expertise were exceptional. As a friend I enjoyed playing poker, lunches during work and sharing stories about our kids (I have three girls). He was also a great teacher. Rick may God bless you and your family. You will be missed. - Sean Brynjelsen

We will always cherish the memories of playing cards, the Martini Bar, being hoodwinked and laughing the night away with our good friends. Our kids will always remember these fun times. Brett and I will cherish these memories, your sense of humor and the fabulous family times! We love you and we will never forget you!

I was a colleague of Rick during his Baxter years. Utilizing his analytical skills, he took on challenging laboratory projects that contributed to the development of new products. His work was of the highest caliber.
I enjoyed his playing softball with him on the Baxter departmental team. He was the consummate team player.
He loved his children, and he will not be forgotten.
May he rest in peace,
Ted Roseman
