Robert Schwabe Obituary

Robert Brian Schwabe
Robert Brian Schwabe, 69, of Cary, passed away on August 13, 2025. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Robert V. and Joyce (Belot) Schwabe. The family moved to Libertyville, IL where Rob grew up. On October 1, 1983, he married Maribeth at St. Catherine Labouré in Glenview, and together they built a home filled with love, faith, and devotion to family.
Rob had a lifelong love of sports and competition. Golf was his favorite, and he enjoyed playing in several groups and traveling to different courses around the area. He also played tennis, racquetball and ping pong. He was an avid reader and enjoyed Wordle, challenging word ciphers and Solitaire. Rob spent many years coaching his kids' soccer teams in Cary and cheering them on from the sidelines. Later, his greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren, who were the highlight of his life.
He worked over 40 years at Baxter Healthcare where he was a Quality Assurance Manager. He was respected for his knowledge and dedication in developing and improving the production processes of IV therapies. After retiring, he continued to share his expertise as a consultant in the field. Rob was also deeply involved in his church, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he was a member for more than 35 years. He participated in FIRE, taught high school religious education, and gave his time to PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter).
Rob is survived by his wife, Maribeth; his children, Megan (Mark) DeMint, Ryan (Alexandra Romano) Schwabe, and Erin (Thomas) Selden; and his grandchildren, Allison, Olivia, Emma, Dominick, Danielle, Zoey, and Nora. He is also survived by his mother, Joyce Schwabe; and siblings, Cheryl (John) Johnson and David (Barbara) Schwab.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert V. Schwabe, and grandson, Zachary Marcus Selden.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 410 First Street, Cary. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.
Rob will be remembered for his love of family, his steady faith, his sense of humor, and the joy he found in both work and play.

I am deeply saddened by Bob's passing and extend my heartfelt condolences and prayers to you all during this difficult time. I had the privilege of working alongside Bob for about 17 years, with him serving as my direct supervisor for nearly half of that period. Beyond being a colleague, Bob was a mentor and a true friend whose guidance shaped my career in profound ways. I attribute much of my professional success to the knowledge, encouragement, and guidance he generously shared with me. Bob's kindness, expertise, and unwavering support will be dearly missed, but his legacy lives on through those he inspired. May you find comfort in the many lives he touched.

With sincere sympathy,

Paul Kenney
