Albert Stone Obituary
Albert Eugene Stone, 77, of Leonard, Texas, formerly of Crown Point, Indiana passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Al was born on June 24, 1946, to Isadore and Margaret (nee Hamilton) Stone. He was fifth of nine children: Helen, Lucille, Owen, Phyllis, Martha, Marguerite, Homer, and Roy.
As a young man, Al moved from his home state of Illinois to northwest Indiana and worked at Arthur P. Winer and Bethlehem Steel in Gary, Indiana. He then owned and operated the Clark station at the corner of 73rd and Madison in Merrillville, which was later renamed Al Stone's Raceway Corner. There, he made many friends and acquaintances who will fondly remember him as a funny and charming guy with the gift for gab. He loved people and he was a generous and kind friend.
Al moved to Texas, working at Delta Distributors/Brentag as a truck driver. He and his family lived in the Richardson area for many years before moving to Anna and Leonard. Al was a member of Arapaho Road Baptist Church for many years and later Pin Oaks Christian Fellowship in Anna. Al will be remembered as a loving sweetheart to his family; fried chicken and burgers were the only things he may have loved more.
Al was predeceased by his parents, his sister Helen Heflin, his brothers Owen Stone and Homer Stone, his son Michael Stone and his granddaughter Makayla Stone.
