Alfreda Andersen Obituary

ALFREDA D. ANDERSEN "POTCHIE" HOBART, IN Alfreda D. "Potchie" Andersen, age 84, of Hobart passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011. She was born on March 19, 1927 in Hobart, IN to the late Ignatz and Kazmira Kubiak. She retired from "Jack and Jill Academy" where she was a preschool teacher for many years. Potchie was a longtime member of St. Bridget Church where she volunteered her time helping with the catering. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She is survived by one son, Timothy (Mary) Andersen of Valparaiso, IN; one daughter, Patricia Andersen of Hobart, IN; two grandsons: Joe and Jake Andersen; one niece, Pat (John) Zimbrick; good friends: John and Diane MacDonald; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by four sisters: Mae, Adeline, Josephine, and Charlotte; and three brothers: Steve, Jake and Harry. Memorial donations in Potchie's honor may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383 or St Bridget Church, 103 Main Street, Hobart, IN 46342. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St Bridget Church with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, December 9, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Call (219) 942-2109 or online at www.Reesfuneralhomes.com.
