Amy Osmulski Obituary

Amy Lynne Osmulski (nee Someson)

Amy Lynne Osmulski (nee Someson)

Miller Beach/Munster IN

It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Amy Lynne Osmulski, who passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2025, just one day after celebrating her 56th birthday. Born on February 7, 1969, Amy was born to Mertha and John Someson, Jr. in Gary, Indiana. Amy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, Godmother and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of so many.

Amy is survived by her loving husband, Paul, their two amazing daughters Meredith and Claire, and her sister Beth (Tom) Erdelac and their son Kiel. Amy leaves behind a loving, supportive and heartbroken group of relatives, including numerous brothers and sisters in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and countless treasured friends.

Amy lived a life full of warmth and generosity, always putting the needs of others before her own. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone she met feel special through her kind words, infectious laughter and her incredible smile. She carried a deep love for God, her family and friends, and showed it through her cherishing the moments spent together and her passion for home cooking and entertaining. Amy's presence was a gift to those who got to know her, and she will be remembered for her resilience, compassion, and the joy she brought to those around her. Amy was also a remarkable teacher whose dedication to her students went far beyond the classroom, she was able to connect with children and stir their passion for learning and growth. She was more than Mrs O to her students, she was the reason they loved to get up in the morning and go to school, she was a kind-hearted soul who always put the needs of her students first, even at her own expense, in order to help them meet their full potential.

Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all those she touched and who loved and cherished her deeply. Amy is now at peace and reunited with her mother and father and dear friends who passed before her. She will be watching over her loved ones with the same love and care she always showed while she was here on earth.

A celebration of Amy's life will be held at Burns Kish funeral home in Munster, IN on Saturday February 15th at 10:00 am followed by a funeral mass at Saint Thomas More, Munster, IN at 12:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to join us in honoring her memory, sharing stories, and finding comfort in one another.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) in Amy's name, continuing her legacy of Kindness, Giving and Hope.

Amy may be gone from our sight, but she will never be gone from our hearts. Rest in peace and eternal life, Amy. You will always be loved and missed.

My deepest sympathy in the unexpected loss of Amy. I taught with her many years at Nathan Hale in Whiting. She and Melissa Mote were two of the "young" teachers I so admired. I was 10 years older. They were to me what an excellent teacher is-vibrant, loving, happy, caring. Any child would benefit from having them as their teacher. Many children did.
Such sad news, but you can be assured Amy was the best of everything she did. My love and prayers to the family.
