Bonnie D'Angelo Obituary

D'Angelo, Bonnie

02/27/1942 - 12/26/2023

Bonnie Kae D'Angelo, née Elman, fell sleep in death on December 26, 2023 at her home in Crown Point, IN. She was 81 years old. Bonnie was preceded in death by her brother James Elman of Munster, IN. She is survived by her husband Jay D'Angelo; two sons: Paul (Jennifer) D'Angelo of Schererville, IN; Tony (Lisa) D'Angelo of Mountain Home, AR and four grandchildren: Claire, Luke, Kate, and Gisele. Bonnie was born on February 27, 1942 to parents Nick and Katherine Elman in East Chicago, IL. She grew up in Hessville, IN and moved to Griffith in 1958. She then graduated Griffith High School in 1960. On March 9, 1967, Bonnie married her high school sweetheart Jay Franklin D'Angelo. They were married for almost 57 years. Bonnie will best be remembered for her beautiful smile and warm heart. She was a devoted wife, compassionate and loving mother, and a doting grandmother. She delighted to spend time in the kitchen cooking hearty meals and delicious desserts for family and friends. No one ever left her home hungry.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Bonnie also volunteered much of her time talking to her neighbors about how God's Kingdom will provide relief to all of mankind's problems. She did so whether from house to house, by telephone, or by letters. She had strong faith in the Bible's promise of an earthly resurrection-a faith that sustained her down to the end.

Isaiah 26:19 " Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life"

A memorial service will be held on Saturday 12/30/23 at 2:00 pm at the Highland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 3533 Wirth Road, Highland, IN 46322. You may also view the service via ZOOM.

Cousin Bonnie and I were born 13 days apart. Our moms were sisters growing up in Hammond Indiana. Our moms and dads were extremely close and were spent many vacations i Chicago at gramma's house. Bonnie was beautiful - happy all the time and had a laugh that made us all feel good inside. As kids we played together at her home in Hammond and at gramma's home in Chicago. We had a special bond that grew over the years. She and Jay welcomed me to stay with them when I came every year to go to a BEARS GAME. I cant say enough about how good a cook Bonnie was. Breakfast lunch and dinner were always outstanding. She also was a professional first class shopper. She knew all the right stores to shop in Chicago and the malls. We always hit Marshall Fields and Fanny May. I miss her dearly but know she has reunited with gramma her mom dad and brother. God bless Jay ,Paul, and Tony, you had the the best of the best.

Bonnie will be remembered for so many of her wonderful traits and gifts, but for me, it will be her great laugh!! She spread her joy to all who knew her, and the minute you met her, it was like you had known her for a lifetime. The last statement in her obituary is so true...you NEVER left Bonnie and Jay's home hungry!! Jay, Paul, Tony and family, you are held close in heart and in prayers for peace. Love to all of you.
