Carol Yokovich Obituary

CAROLINE B. YOKOVICH (NEE WILK) HAMMOND, IN Caroline B. Yokovich (nee Wilk), age 86 of Hammond, IN, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010. She is survived by her children: Marybeth Yokovich of Merrillville, IN, Thomas (Gail) Yokovich of Crown Point, IN, Jeffrey (Linda) Yokovich of North Carolina, Donald Yokovich of Texas, Diane (Paul) Brassea of Arizona and Joseph (Cheryl) Yokovich of Munster, IN; grandchildren: Cathy, Tommy, Andy, Laura, Timmy, Kelsey, Donald (Amanda), Patrick, Madeline, Josh and Doug Yokovich and Paul and Mark Brassea; brother, Chester (Patricia) Wilk of Munster, IN; and sisters: Evelyn (Bernard) Korczyk of Arizona and Lorraine Vambakas of Schererville. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; brothers: Joseph and Leon Wilk; and sisters: Emily Szura, Stell Lanska and Sister Lucida Wilk SSJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hammond, IN with Rev. Charles A. Mosley officiating. Burial at St. John St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond, IN. Friends may call at the Lesniak Funeral Home, 4918 Magoun Ave., East Chicago, IN for visitation on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Mrs. Yokovich was a longtime resident of Hammond, IN and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Her house was the gathering place for family events. She loved having people over.

Mrs. Yokovich was our across-the-alley neighbor and friend of my mom during my Hammond youth. I remember her for her kindness, friendliness and sweet smile. God bless her and her family.
