HEBRON - Constance J. "Connie" Zaharias, 80, of Hebron, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
She was born July 13, 1943, in Gary, IN, to Michael and Gwendolyn (Fugate) Manolakis, and graduated from Gary Wirt High School. Connie was a member of St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church and St. Katherine's Philoptochos. She enjoyed activities with the Red Hat Society, any time or events spent with her family, especially cooking, but it was the spontaneous house cleanings and rearranging that never failed to surprise her children and grandchildren and raised her status to legendary.
On September 22, 1963, she married Michael "Zeke" Zaharias who preceded her in death on May 25, 2022.
Survivors include their children: Catherine Mashburn, Christine Zaharias, Mike (Patricia) Zaharias, Jr.; grandchildren: Mike (Tyler) Zaharias III, Constance Wilmoth, Eleni Zaharias, Alexandra Mashburn; great grandchildren: Tristan and Rose; and her brother, Michael "Bob" Manolakis. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Harold and Sam Manolakis.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 3, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at MOELLER FUNERAL HOME, Valparaiso. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2024, directly at St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church, 36 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, beginning at 10:00 a.m., Fr. James Grenias officiating with burial following at Graceland Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the church or St. Katherine's Philoptochos.
