Dianne Elizabeth Zaharias, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, Dianne carried with her a deep appreciation for beauty and creativity that shaped her life and the lives of those around her. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where she was a proud member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. It was during those years that she nurtured her love for the arts and education, passions that would define her legacy.
After moving to Golden, Colorado, Dianne married the love of her life, Dave Zaharias. Together, they built a joyful home and raised three children: Chris, Andrew, and Laura. Dianne dedicated over three decades to teaching art in the Jefferson County School District, inspiring countless students with her talent, warmth, and unwavering encouragement.
In retirement, Dianne continued to share her love of art by volunteering for 15 years at the Denver Art Museum, where she welcomed visitors and shared insights with her characteristic grace and enthusiasm. She also found joy and serenity spending time with her dear friends in the beautiful surroundings of Kauai, a place that became a second home to her spirit.
Above all, Dianne adored her family. She was a devoted grandmother to Harper and Haley, who brought light and laughter to her life. Her presence was a gift: steadfast, creative, compassionate, and full of love.
A celebration of her life will be planned for a future date.
Dianne's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched as a teacher, a volunteer, and a friend. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
