Edward Gerber Obituary

EDWARD "KEITH" GERBER MUNSTER, IN Edward "KEITH" Gerber passed away in Munster, Indiana on June 26, 2015 at the age of 82. Keith is predeceased by his parents: Charles "Fred" Gerber and Virgil "Faye" Sweet; Siblings, Dorothy (Roy) Deresch, Betty (Arthur) Pflugrad, Robert (Alice) Gerber, Phyllis (John) Signorelli. Keith is survived by his loving wife, RuthAnn (Goerg) of 60 years. They were married in Dyer, Indiana on June 18, 1955. Keith is affectionately remembered by his son, Mark (Diane) Gerber; daughter, Sherri (Jeffrey) Ding; granddaughters, Kayla Ding (Ronald Zellers) and China Ding (Timothy Malewicki); and numerous nieces and nephews. Keith was born in Hammond, Indiana on June 28, 1932. He graduated from Lake Ridge Adult Education in 1984 and went on to attend Purdue University's Calumet Campus in 2005 and 2006, where he was on the Dean's List. He worked as a crane operator at J & L Steel for 30 years before being forced into an early retirement. Although disabled, Keith never complained or made excuses for his shortcomings. He saw his life as a blessing and thanked God every day for what He gave him. Keith, an extremely talented artist, has four of his works displayed at The First Christian Church of Lansing, Illinois, one at Mt. Zion Pleasant View Plaza in Hammond, Indiana, and many others at various homes of family and friends throughout the U.S. Keith was a charter member of the City of Hammond's, Mayor's Commission on Disabilities. Keith also enjoyed sailing, hunting, fishing, and camping. Keith was baptized into the family of Christ at the First Christian Church of Lansing, Illinois in December 1960 where he continued to be an Elder and active member until the day he was called "Home" by his Lord and Savior. For that reason, a celebration of Keith's life will be held at the First Christian Church of Lansing on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor William Lyons officiating. The church is located at 2921 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Lansing. www.chapellawnfunerals.com

RuthAnn,

Sorry to read about Keith, it sounds like he was quite an accomplished artist along with a variety of other interests. Many years ago he painted a beautiful mural for my neighbor's the Wilbur's . Our prayers are with you and your family.
