George E. Poisel, 82 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was born October 12, 1942, in Leroy, IN to the late Charles and Bertha (Hoagland) Poisel. George attended Hebron High School, and proudly served in the United States Army from 1960-1963 as a Specialist E4, where he was stationed in Korea on the demilitarized zone and worked in communications and explosives. He was recently selected to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington DC with his son, Brian, to celebrate his military service. George made his career as an Operating Engineer with Local 150 Operating Engineers for 52 years. He was a member of the Valparaiso Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. George had his private pilot's license and enjoyed flying his plane. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, maintaining his yard, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs. George was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kind personality and gentle heart. George will be dearly missed.

On January 4, 1975, in Hobart, George married the love of his life, Patricia Ball, who survives, along with their sons: Brian (Mandy) Poisel, and Shawn (Kelley) Poisel; grandchildren: Ethan, Alee, Kayla, and Quentin; sisters: Marilyn Benda, Carol (Jerry) Dust, and Donna Mier; and his beloved dog, Pandi. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clifford and Robert Poisel; sister, Betty Irelan; and infant brother, Everett Poisel.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., with a Masonic Service beginning at 12 p.m. and funeral service to follow. Burial at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dunes Hospice.
