George Shinkle Obituary

George F. Shinkle Hammond George F. Shinkle, 79, of Hammond, IN passed away Monday, May 24, 2004 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence, Munster, IN. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret L.; three sons, Ronald Shinkle, Wayne (Linda Sue) Shinkle and Troy (Sherry L.) Shinkle, all of Hammond, IN; nine grandchildren: Ronald (Cheri) Shinkle, Jr., Robert (Dana) Shinkle, Wayne Shinkle, Jr., Elizabeth (Devin) Hatley, Ryan Shinkle, Sherry Lynn (Ken) Cox, John (Chris) Hillman, Jr., Danielle Shinkle and Zac Shinkle; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Lily Wilkins, Audrey Lytle and Dorothy Shields; one brother, Burl Shinkle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Darlene Hillman, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 28, 2004 at 10 AM from LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN, with Rev. Greg Fish officiating. Burial, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the William J. Riley Memorial Residence, 511 Otis Bowen Drive, Munster, IN 46321. Mr. Shinkle was a resident of this area for 60 years, a Navy Veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific Theatre, a retired dry cleaner from F.W. Means of Chicago, IL, and Hopman Cleaners of Hammond, IN, attended the Free Methodist Church of Griffith, IN and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lawrenceville, IL. He coached Edison Little League for 15 years and served on the Boy Scouts Board for four years. Information 219-845-3600
