We bid a sorrowful farewell to 2018, and to the last beautiful year we shared with Dad. Hoping to re-live some precious past New Years Eve's we added some old Holiday family traditions, hoping that festivities would bring some good old remembrances. So with heavy hearts we welcomed in the new. It was our first New Year's Eve without Dad and second without Mom. We continue to try to move on through life without them through days filled with sorrow and memories of past wonderful years. New Years was just a shadow of what it once was. May our souls someday be lifted and may we find a way to put to rest the constant searching for them through the darkness. May they rest in peace, and until we are together again, we send them our love, MaryLou Phillip and Fred. . .Love Always and forever in our hearts.

MERRY CHRISTMAS MOM AND DAD. IT'S YOUR FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN, DAD, AND 2ND FOR MOM AND NOTHING IS THE SAME. THERE IS AN EMPTY PLACE IN OUR HEARTS, AND IT IS NOT GETTING BETTER. WE MISS YOU MORE AS THE DAYS AND MONTHS PASS. IT'S TERRIBLY SAD TO REMEMBER PAST CHRISTMASES WITH YOU BUT I JUST PRAY THAT IN TIME THE MEMORIES WILL BRING THE JOY THEY ONCE DID AND NOT THE SORROW OF TODAY. REST IN PEACE WITH GOD WHOM YOU LOVED AND WORSHIPED WITH GREAT FAITH. YOU ARE BOTH IN OUR HEARTS AND IN OUR THOUGHTS--THIS CHRISTMAS EVERY CHRISTMAS AND ALWAYS

HELEN AND HERB YOU'LL ALWAYS BE WITH US
Remembering our wonderful Mother and Father ALL DAY today; the precious times we shared with them; The goodness in their hearts and all they had done for us. We Love them today and always. On this beautiful Christmas Eve and every day, we'll pray for their souls; we will never forget our life and times with them, or all of the special memorable Christmas Eve's past, when we gathered around the Goodrich dining room table sharing delicious traditional Christmas Eve dinners. We exchanged gifts early, and presents were scattered across the living room and dining room and all the kids played with their new toys, music playing, the brightest Christmas tree and all the laughter. Soon, all the relatives and friends would arrive and the house was filled with joy fun and singing and Mom and Dad were on top of the world. You are always in our thoughts, Mom and Dad, and may we all meet again on that magical Christmas Eve night that lasts forever. Glory to Jesus Christ Forever--We pray that you are with the Lord. . . With Love.. .Marylou Phillip and Fred.

Today will be the first Thanksgiving without my Dad. I wish I could drive over to Mom and Dad's and walk in the door and they would both be at home waiting for everyone to arrive. I can still smell the aroma of my Mother's delicious wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. I can still taste the melt-in-your-mouth dinner and her peach and apple pies. It was always exceptional; the best. I miss my Dad cracking his jokes to ruffle Mom's feathers. We would sit down to the loveliest, scrumptious meal one could ever imagine. Thank you Dad, for welcoming us, lovingly, into your cozy beautiful festive home with open arms and feeding us. Love you forever, Rest In Peace. . Your loving daughter, always, MaryLou. . .

Yesterday was the first day ever that I had to spend without my precious Dad. I missed his happy voice: "Happy Birthday Lou!" and I will miss that forever. He never complained when he wasn't feeling well, and stayed strong for us, so not to worry anyone, even though he wasn't doing well. He always told us to be "Cowboy tough" and HE was cowboy tough. I miss sharing birthday cake and coffee with Dad at the dining room table, talking and laughing. He always had such great One-Liners. I always wondered where he got them all from. I miss you now, Dad, and always. You will always be here in my heart, on every birthday, and every day. Love you forever. . .Rest In Peace.. .Your loving daughter, Marylou

My mother would be bustling around right about now pulling the Christmas tree and ornaments, and all of her precious dolls and decorations. She would be planning on where to get her turkey, which usually was Van Tils in Hessville, and when Meijer superstore came to Highland, we bought turkeys a few times. I remember her delicious fresh polish sausage, the best in the world. It was the same kind my Grandma Hlavaty always made. We would get it at every holiday, and it was very good. I always looked forward to eating that sausage. My mother was the best cook in the world. We were raised on beautiful home-cooked meals, not fast food. This was such a wondrous time of year. Just hate to see it gone. This marks the second Thanksgiving without Helen (Mother) and first without Herb (Dad) Feels strange without them. It's our turn to cook and make memories , but very difficult without them. Rest In peace Mom and Dad. Love you forever miss you always.

Dad, I miss your kindness, your cheerful personality and all of your great stories. Even when you were so sick, you would crack jokes and great one-liners. You never complained about your pain and suffering. I wish I could be strong like you were. Miss you forever.

Dad, it's been just over month since you left us, and almost a year since Mom passed away. I pray that the two of you are really together again. We all miss you so much Dad. Life is not the same without you. There is nothing that can take your place. Rest In Peace, Dad, Love you and miss you forever.

Dad, you are greatly missed every day, and especially so on Halloween. It was the first Halloween without you and mom, and was a sad empty day. You loved all the kids and at all times were so generous to everyone. Those beautiful memories of you when the grandkids would come to show you and mom their costumes and to trick-or-treat at the house, where you and mom would have such wonderful goodies. The memories of those beautiful times we will cherish forever. You'll never be forgotten, nor will we ever forget the kindness you showed to all children in the neighborhood. We love you, Dad.

Dad finally returned home yesterday. Phillip and Herbie brought his ashes and we placed them next to Mom's, where they will stay together for a short while, until we select a plot in our family cemetery for their final resting places, together. Dad and Mom were reunited in spirit on October 5, and now they sit together in my living room enclosed in matching urns, side-by-side on their own beloved wood china cabinet, surrounded by many keepsake memories and pictures telling the stories of their lives. God may they Rest In Peace, together. And may we be blessed with having them remain with us forever, in spirit.

Thank you all for sharing your memories, thoughts, condolences and prayers about Herb. Sadly, most of my parents' friends and relatives of their generation have passed, but many are still living, and us younger folks are still here, so if there's anyone out there with any stories or memories to share, we would love to hear from you. I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful fall season in good health! God Bless you all for your kindness and love. Love, MaryLou.

Herb was my Dad, and this world is a very lonely place without him, and my mother. I would like to believe that the two are together again, but without pain and suffering, but just with joy and gladness. My Dad was always joking around, trying to make light of things, especially during difficult times. I will miss all of his One-liners, and I mentioned to him a few years ago that I was just amazed at how all through my life he had such great One-liners, and I hadn't heard many repeats, I asked him, "Where do you get them all from?" He just laughed. When my Dad was joyful and smiling he lit up the room and hearts. Life will be empty without him and my Mother. May they rest in peace. . .With Love. . .

My Dad was a kind, and generous man who loved his family, dearly. He worried about us, and took care to know that we were all safe and well. As his health declined, he was concerned about his family and not for himself. He adored his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, and found such joy with them, always looking forward to their visits, even until the last days of his life. All that knew him love him, and have expressed their feelings about that great personality and his loving kindness. Herb was an honest and righteous man with a remarkably positive outlook on life and never complained or let his health problems get him down. There will forever be many empty places in our hearts and in our world. May he rest in peace with Mom.
