James Kish Obituary

JAMES "JIM" KISH, SR.
James "Jim" Kish, Sr., age 80, passed away early Monday morning, September 26, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on May 19, 1936 in Gary, IN, to Julius and Mary (nee Rigovsky) Kish. He graduated from Gary Edison High School, playing football, basketball, baseball, and track. He met his sweetheart, Jeanie, at Edison in 1952, and they married at St. Mark Catholic Church in Gary in 1957. Jim attended Toledo University in Ohio on a football scholarship. The light of Jim's life was his family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanie; daughter, Karen (Quentin) Arvin; son, James, Jr. (Dianna); four grandchildren: Matthew Kish, Hailee Kish, Claire Arvin, and Nicholas Arvin. Jim was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Crown Point. He had a long career in Northwest Indiana banking. Jim retired from Centier Bank in 1998, where he was Vice President of Consumer Lending. He was a member of the Crown Point Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, Kiwanis, Hobart Elks, and C.P.H.S. Athletic Boosters. In retirement, Jim became an avid golfer, with two holes in one over the years. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan since 1945. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service, 811 E. Franciscan Dr. (south of St. Rd. 231 on St. Rd. 55), Crown Point on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from Pruzin & Little Chapel and 10:00 a.m. from St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 Joliet St., Crown Point with Rev. Gerald Schweitzer officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery. The Kish family would like to thank the many friends and family members who demonstrated their love and empathy to Jim during his illness. A special thank you to Dr. Joseph Kacmar and the nurses at St. Anthony Hospice who compassionately cared for our dear husband and father. Condolences to the Kish Family on your loss. As a former Edison HS Alum, I got to know Jim from stories about what Jim and other outstanding Edison HS athletes had acheived. I didn't meet Jim until a few years ago at an Edison Old-Timers Breakfast Get Together...he was a regular attendee. We've lost a good one. May Jim RIP.
