James Milligan Obituary

James Valentine Milligan Highland, IN James Valentine Milligan, age 75 of Highland, passed away August 23, 2007 peacefully with family at his side. James was born February 14, 1932 in East Chicago, IN. Preceded in death by parents, James W. and Lottie (Zmirski) Milligan, and brother, Robert. On November 19, 1955 James married Lillian Gaskey, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Together they were blessed with six children whom they welcomed and cherished. James is survived by Lillian and four daughters and two sons: Laura (Paul) Benson of Portage, Linda Wilson of Highland, Lottie Brown of LaPorte, Leslie (Todd) Kegley of New Carlisle, James (Carolyn) Milligan of Valparaiso and John S. Milligan of Georgetown, KY; 14 grandchildren: Michael, Lauren, Joanna, April, Kyle, Jessica, David, Jonathan, Patricia, Naomi, James, Sylvia, Dylan, Dawson; nine great-grandchildren: Anthony, Kailee, Lili, Daniel, Avion, Katelyn, Mirko, Tyler, Marcus. He has many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and special friends, including Joseph and Rose Dudzik, Aunt Sadie and Aunt Annie. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 10:30 at Our Lady of Grace Church, Highland with Rev. Edward Moszur officiating. Visitation for Mr. Milligan will be on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the Fagen Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m., and also at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Cremation to follow. James was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 142 for 52 years, serving as a steward and President of Local 142 Retirement Club. "Milldust" worked for Dust Motors Service and Calumet Flexicore. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Parish and Holy Name Society. A comfort and inspiration to his whole family, Jim enjoyed planning outings and parties for his family, workplace and union. "Mr. Fixit" was always there to help when needed to coach or lend a shoulder to cry on. His sense of humor was his trademark. Memorials to the Our Lady of Grace Endowment Fund. www.fagenmiller.com.
