James Niermeyer Obituary

James D. Niermeyer

Jul 5, 1932 - Oct 3, 2025

James David Niermeyer, age 93, of Mesquite, NV, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025.

James is survived by his wife: Patricia Niermeyer; sons, Thomas (Rachelle) Niermeyer, Lawrence T. (Heidi) Niermeyer, David (Kristin) Niermeyer; Rod (Susan) Vandervort; grandchildren, Kayla, Mark and Jacob Niermeyer, Scotty and Ethan Genzmer, Adam (Suzanna) Mosier and Ryan Sbarra.

James was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Niermeyer; parents, Joseph A. & Henritta Niermeyer; brothers George Niermeyer, Donald (Sue) Niermeyer; and sister, Catherine Tunny.

James was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Church, Crown Point. He started working at the First National Bank in Crown Point in 1960. After First National was acquired by Centier Bank, James continued working with them and finished his career with over 30 years of service. James was a resident of Crown Point until 2020.

James valued education, and furthered his professional knowledge at the Graduate School of Banking in Wisconsin. Throughout his career and life, he believed deeply in giving back to his community. He served as past president of both the Civic Club and the Chamber of Commerce, and was an active member of Crown Point Rotary Club, and Youche Country Club.

James proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1953-1955, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway. His service took him across the globe, including nine months in the Mediterranean in 1953, and a world tour in 1955, traveling from Florida to Bremington, Washington, with duties in the Indian Ocean, the Phillippines, and Japan.

Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, James was an avid golfer who achieved the rare honor of two holes-in-one. He also loved to travel, exploring countries across the world with a sense of curiosity and adventure.

James will be remembered for his dedication to service, his love of family and faith, and his joyful spirit.
