James Tipfer Obituary

James E. Tipfer St. John James E. Tipfer, age 80 late of St. John passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005. Beloved husband for 58 years of Margaret (nee Velligan) Loving father of Fred Tipfer of St. John and James (Jean Anne) Tipfer of Phoenix, AZ; Step-brother of Noel (Eileen) Spowrat and JoAnne (Al) Bernachi; Brother-in-law of Mary Balasz and Irene Franckey; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and fellow Post members. Veteran of U.S. Army WWII; retired employee of Inland Steel and former employee of Standard Oil Whiting refinery and Calumet Shipyards and Schroaders Woodcrafters of Lowell. Dedicated life member of St. John VFW Post #717 Service Sunday 7:00 p.m. Charter member and past commander of Hessville VFW Post #7881 and life member of American Legion Cedar Lake Post #261. Member of St. John the Evangelist Church and Golden Timers of Munster. Visitation Sunday 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service Monday March 7, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. from the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 11300 W. 97th Lane (1/2 block west of US 41 Wicker Avenue at 97th Street), St. John to St. John the Evangelist Church. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond. In lieu of flowers contributions to Hospice of Calumet area appreciated.

Dear Mrs. Tipfer and family.



I want to express my deepest sympathy in the death of Jim, he will be truly missed, a great man, sorry I cannot be their, we are in Arizona now, but my thoughts are with you. Freddy take good care of your Mom, and God Bless you and all, and God Bless Jim.
