Janet A. Bouman (Gunderman) VALPARAISO, IN - Janet A. Bouman, 81, passed away September 2, 2017. She's survived by her loving children: Andy (Holly), Luke (Kathy), and Greg (Dawn) and three grandchildren: Kenneth (Rachel), Nathan, and Janelle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Bouman. Prior to retirement, Jan was a teacher dedicated to Special Education and at-risk children in the inner city in Columbus, OH. She was a recipient of the prestigious "Good Apple Award" for excellence in teaching. She served as chair of the Library Committee and on Resident's Council at Pines Village, Valparaiso, where she loved playing games and working puzzles with other residents. She especially loved being near her grandchildren as they were students at Valparaiso University, attending their concerts and events. Her infectious smile will be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 Monticello Park Blvd., Valparaiso at 11:00a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017, Pastor Steve Bongard, officiating, with visitation two hours prior to the service.
