John P. Ector Merrillville, IN John P. Ector, age 59, of Merrillville,IN passed away Monday, March 29, 2004, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; five children: John(McKenzie) Ector of CA, Knekalen (Cale) Simmons of FL, David Ector of CA, Kristen Santos of FL; and Khalil (Joy) Santos of CT; grandchildren; Quinn and Cody Simmons, and Nathaniel Santos; Mother; Lois (William) Thomas of VA; One sister, Ellen (Brian) Orr of FL and Niece and Nephew, Brandon and Shelly. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 3,2004 at 12:30 PM at St.Michael Lutheran Church, 805 S. County Line Rd., Hebron, IN with Rev. Richard Lee Boshoven. Services will conclude at the church with cremation to follow. Friends may call at Geisen Funeral Home,109 N. East St., Crown Point on Friday, April 2,2004 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday morning, April 3, 2004, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the church. Mr. Ector was a member of St.Michael Lutheran Church in Hebron where he was an Elder and Sunday School Teacher. John was a 1956 graduate of Valparaiso University. He received his Masters Degree from Purdue University, following school he taught at Horace Mann Junior/Senior High School for 10 years. After his teaching career he became an Independent Financial Planner for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Crown Point for over 35 years. John was a board member of the Wittenburg Lutheran Home, past President of Paul Harris Fellow of the Crown Point Rotary Club, where he was known for his longtime perfect attendance, fining fellow members for not wearing their Rotary Pin and for his humorous and sometimes not so humorous jokes.
