John Howell Obituary

JOHN H. HOWELL VALPARAISO, IN John H. Howell, 90 of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014. John was born July 24, 1924 in Erwin, Tennessee, the son of Garrett B. and Essie (Renfro) Howell, who preceded him in death. He was a US Army Air Corp Veteran, an Electronic Technician for RCA and a Valparaiso Building Commissioner for 28 years. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Valparaiso Masonic Lodge 137. 32° Scottish Rite and the V.F.W. Post 988 in Valparaiso. He was also Past Commander of the Charles Pratt Post 94 of the American Legion and was a recipient of the "Sagamore of the Wabash" award. On September 19, 1948 in Washington Twp. He married Anita Honchar, who preceded him in death June 24, 2000. Surviving are his sons Neil (Nadine) Howell of Villa Rica, Georgia and Gary Howell of Valparaiso and 9 grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother Harley. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 5th 2014 at 10:00 AM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St, Rev. Mike Eddy officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be held Monday, August 4th 2014, 3-7 PM with Masonic Services at 6:30 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Donation Contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383. www.bartholomewnew hard.com.
