Julia Beth Lorig

1951 - 2024

Julia Beth "Juli" Lorig of Bicknell, IN passed away on April 4, 2024 at the age of 72. She was born on August 1, 1951 in Des Moines, IA to Rev. Clayton and Elaine Elsberry. Juli graduated from Fayette High School, Fayette, IA and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Upper Iowa University in 1973. She later went back to school to earn her Master's Degree in Choral Music Education from Indiana State University in 1999. She taught at North Knox School Corporation for 29 years with nearly 40 years in education altogether. Both her students and her faith were very important to her.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joe, a daughter, Katie (Brian) Hernandez of Munster, and 2 grandchildren. Other relatives include brothers James (Geri) Elsberry and Jon (Sandi) Elsberry, sister Janna Umfleet as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held at Word of Life Church, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, 7144 Russell Dr, Bicknell, IN with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville IN. Memorial contributions may be made in Julia's memory to the Word of Life Keyboard Fund.
