Julio Almodovar Obituary
Julio Almodovar, age 67, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born October 7, 1948 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Preceded in death by his parents, Ulpiana and Gervacio Almodovar; in-laws, Domingo and Luz Lopez; four brothers, Efrain "Fing," Ruben "Cuco," Valentin, and Benjamin Almodovar and son-in-law, Daniel Aviles. Julio is survived by his wife, Olga "Iris" Hernandez; children, Anna (Greg) Blackmon, Miguel Hernandez, Eduardo (Amber) Hernandez, Julie (Tony) Aviles, Cesar Almodovar and Sukelly Almodovar; grandchildren: Christine, Amanda, Holly, Daniel, Nicholas, Jacob, Amnerys, and Adrian; great grandchild, Michael; siblings: Santi Cintron, Olga (Kiko) Carrion and Doris Cruz; other numerous nieces and nephews. Julio worked as a transporter for Illiana Surgery and Franciscan Hospitals. He enjoyed dominoes, gardening, cooking, and salsa music. Julio will be remembered as someone who loved to clean his car for hours and relax in his lounge chair in the yard listening to music. First visitation will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Main Chapel at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408 (219)980-5555. Second visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Main Chapel at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN 46410. Julio will be deeply missed by his loving, devoted family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are greatly appreciated. God Grant Him Eternal Peace.

I am so sorry to hear about Julio. I am glad to say that I am one of the very many people that had the chance to be graced by his kindness. He always came around with a smile on his face that could only make you smile in return. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Prayers to the entire family. I worked with Julio at the hospital. I'm blessed I was able to work with Julio.
He was kind, generous, and always had a smile on his face. He will be deeply missed by many. I will always remember our morning talks at the reception desk before you went out to transport. know you are not suffering Julio you are in heaven resting at peace.
