January 14, 2006

One of the challenges of moving away from my Porter Co. home is that a daily pastime is reading the obituaries, and seeing friends from long ago mentioned. As the son of Fred ("Rosie") & Mary Hamann, I spent my first eight years of life a mile around the corner from Lee. I remember going to his home as a child, while we would play various games while our parents did their thing. Then our paths parted, though I had minimal contact with some of his half-siblings. I still see his next door Homfeld neighbors (Mary Louise and Eleanor) each summer at our reunion, but contacts with the "old stompin' grounds" are rare these days. My wife Sue and I extend our condolences to his family at this time of personal sorrow, even as we rejoice that he has joined the heavenly life triumphant.
