Michael Rigby Obituary

Michael F. Rigby Valparaiso Michael F. Rigby, age 52 of Valparaiso and formerly a longtime resident of Lake County, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Michael was employed as Operations Manager of Illinois American Water Co., and previously served in many capacities over 33 years for the Gary-Hobart Water Co. He was a graduate of Purdue University Calumet, a member of the Lake and Porter County Home Builder's Associations, the Portage Kiwanis Club and the Habitat For Humanity. For several years, he also served as an inspector for House Masters Co., based in Homewood, IL. He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Rigby and his parents, Frank and Christine Rigby. Michael is survived by his wife, Helen "Stojanovich"; three children, Elizabeth Rigby of Indianapolis, Sarah (Ryan Hardesty) Rigby of Chesterson and Rachel Rigby of Valparaiso; his two brothers, Russell (Kathy) Rigby of DeMotte and Edward (Lynn) Rigby of Lowell; former wife, Cynthia Rodgers of Illinois. Also, many nieces, nephews, dear friends and co-workers. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 from 5-7 PM at Burns Funeral Home, corner of 101st and Broadway, Merrillville/ Crown Point Chapel. A memorial service will be offered at 7 PM with Pastor Tim Engel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the American Heart Association, or to Habitat For Humanity.
