Patsy Gootee Obituary

PATSY ANN GOOTEE HAMMOND, IN
Patsy Ann Gootee, age 78, of Hammond left this earth on October 9, 2011 to join her beloved husband, William Delbert Gootee Jr. at the Lord's table. She was also preceded in death by her parents: Heenan "Jimmy" Conover and Alice Lynch Conover. Patsy was a loving mother to Jackie O'Dea (son-in-law Jim) and Shelly Woodrick (son-in- law Jack). Cherished grandmother of Shannon O'Dea, Kelly Jaeger (Tony), Michael White (Jessica), and Richard Eagle (Rebecca). Proud great grandmother of six: Ryan, Aidan, Jillian, Fallyn, Gavin and Morgan. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind one adored brother, Jack Conover (Wanda); and many Gootee brothers and sisters who were so much a part of her life from an early age. Pat was a lifetime resident of the Region and worked in the public for Parkview/Sterk's grocery for many years. She touched the lives of all who came in contact with her caring spirit. She will be remembered for her giving nature, sense of pride and witty humor as well as her inner and outer beauty. Her very specific wishes of a private gathering with only her children and grandchildren present are being honored. To all who knew and loved her, the family asks that you celebrate her life by sharing memories, stories and smiles with those close to you. That is how she lived life and would like to be honored. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army at donate.salvationarmyusa.org. www.kishfuneralhome.net

This is obviously very late, but just now, in May of 2015, I found out that Patsy Ann had passed away several years ago. I know her at Parkview, and though she was a bit older thanI, we became friends, one I've often thought about tho I have live away from Indiana most of my life. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Where do I start. I dontknow how I can express in afew words the influence that you had on me growing up. You had a way of making everyone feel at home with your lightheartedness and humor. In a family as large as ours you have many strong personalities and opinions this can cause tension at times even between the closest of family. No one was better at cutting through all that BS than Pat. You could be at a table with her and in less than a minute you were laughing and you were at ease, no matter how you may have felt before you sat down you always left feeling better after being with her. I dont know if she knew it but I think Pat could always see what truly mattered in life Live Love and Laugh this lady lived all of that. Miss you.

Aunt Pat, I remember all the hours of phone conversations we'd have and all the stories and laughter (your laugh was so infectious - I can hear it now and it's making me chuckle) we shared. You were so patient when I called to ask for a recipe or how to make a nutroll (my nutrolls aren't even close to how good yours were!) You were an amazing cook, wife, mom, sister, aunt - there's just not a word good enough to describe how fabulous I think you are. I also remember all the times at your house and you, Uncle Del and my mom and dad listening to Marty Robbins, Tony Bennett, and Gordon Lightfoot to name some. Those are and always will be some of the most joyful memories I have! I'm going to miss those chats terribly but I think you're where you want to be, a very happy place.

I'll always remember you at the table.
Such a beautiful, sharp-witted wise woman, speaking your mind.
So strong, so totally cool.

Your legendary laugh.

Dearest Aunt Pat,
The photo chosen to honor you here is just the way I will always remember you. You were the coolest, funniest, most irreverent presence at any gathering, and so, so beautiful...I mean just look at you. Thank you for lightening and being a light in my life as I'm sure you were for everyone who had the joy of knowing you.

She was also a fond cousin of many, myself included. Though it has been many years since I've seen her, I certainly remember the joy she had in life.
God bless and comfort you, Jackie & Shell

Beautiful, Lovely Aunt Pat, I will never forget the day so many years ago when we came to visit at the end of summer and you were jealous of my tan! I could not believe it, because I was always jealous of yours! I loved spending time with you and Uncle Del. Your laugh was contagious and I know you are up there laughing right now with Mom and everyone else!

Because of you, each year, no matter where I lived, I would always plant my little patch of Herbs...Parsley, Sage, Thyme and especially Rosemary. You told me they were everlasting and always added just the right zest to things. This much describes how I will always feel about you. You always added just the right zest to our family and you certainly will be everlasting in my heart! Rest sweetly my Dear, you will be loved forever and a day...
