Robert "Bob" Chambers
July 14, 1932 - April 12, 2023
LANSING, IL - Robert Chambers age 90 of Lansing, Il, passed away Wednesday April 12, 2023. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Carol J. Chambers (nee Miller). Son's Louis (Jasmin) of Munster, IN. Dave (Alyssa) of Lansing, IL and his pride and joy Grandson's Aaron and Robert. Sister in Law's Norma Nicklas and Darlene Miller, and also, many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Rose, his sister Betty (Lloyd) Carpenter, his Brother's Donald Chambers, Howard (Rosemary) Chambers, and sister Barbara (Anne) Chambers.
Bob was born in Gary, In, and grew up in Hammond and later Schererville, In. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in Germany and going on an Honor flight to Washington DC for his service. He had several jobs prior to starting his career with Illinois Bell Phone Company working 36 years until retirement took him to work for the Lansing Park Department. Bob married the love of his life Carol on April 7, 1956, he had many passions in life including working as a volunteer Fireman for Lansing for 10 years. Bob was very active in the Boy Scouts of America for 60 years. He was a member and Elder of St. John Lutheran Church for many years also serving on the school board and later president of the senior club. While also being a member of the Prairie State Leather Guild which he found to be a true passion. He was also a passionate lover of camping, starting with a tent moving up to campers and ending with his Winnebago. Bob loved his family and friends, while always helping others. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all that knew him. Bob was always an optimist and a joy to be around.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services for Bob will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 18100 Wentworth Ave., Lansing, Illinois with Pastor John Richy officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until time of service. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to St. John Lutheran Church or Honor Flight Chicago. www.schroederlauer.com

I have fond memories of Mr. Chambers from church and church camp outs. He was a fun guy to be around. My sincere condolences to his family.
