Robert Graves Obituary
Robert M. Graves, age 73, of Hammond, IN passed away Friday, June 27, 2008. He is survived by two sisters, Jean Shoemaker of Munster, IN and Lillian (Richard) Robinson of Mesa, AZ; one sister-in-law, Donna Graves of Griffith, IN; Numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Bennett, father, James Graves, sister, Daisy Gootee, and brother, James (Skip) Graves. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN with Rev. Stephen Kosinski officiating. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, June 30, 2008 from 3:00- 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Robert was a lifetime resident of this area and worked as a dryer operator for Lever Brothers. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Allied Post # 369 of East Chicago, IN who will conduct memorial services at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and military honors at the cemetery on Tuesday.
